Why you should totally go spring skiing in the Alps

Warm sunny days, empty slopes and great quality of snow - is this even real? If you miss the winter ski season in the Northern Hemisphere, don’t worry because spring skiing is definitely something to experience once in your life.

In Europe, the Spring season stars end of March until end of May. But this doesn’t mean the ski season is over, you can' still enjoy sliding down the mountains in May and most of April. Some resorts even close early May! With more space to have fun, great conditions, and more time to enjoy the activities - this is your opportunity to enjoy a different kind of snow experience.

Take in the best of the spring light

Spring is the ideal period to enjoy the mountains with longer days (up to 12 hours of daylight). It means more time to enjoy snow activities. Sunrise is around at 6:48am and sunset around 7:00pm - plenty of time to enjoy the day!

Longer days also mean more time to enjoy the all-inclusive offer at Club Med ski resorts: ski and snowboard all day long, try non-ski activities from snowshoe walking and sledding, to après-ski treats including hot tubs, saunas or outdoor heated swimming pools.

Milder and less icy temperatures

The warmer weather allow you to practice activities with temperatures above 0 at this time of the year. The average temperature at Les Arcs, just as an example is approximately around 5 degrees.

This is the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities like snowshoe walking, Nordic walking or sledding on the French slopes, horseback riding through the snow-sprinkled trees or ice -fishing in Japan, paragliding or dog-sledding in Italy Each destination offers an array of unique adventures to make unique memories.

And no need to bundle up for the cold - you’ll be able to enjoy the warmer weather and be comfortable.

Less crowded mountains

Travel after the major European school holidays, and the mountain is all yours. Discover the domain and its charming surroundings with privileged conditions.

It’s ideal for beginners wanting to learn without the crowds as well as for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders - so much fun and almost no waiting time at the chair lift!

Plus less people around also mean you might even be able to get a private lesson or reduced group lessons i- everyone is winning!

Greater value packages

Another great advantage on going spring skiing is that you can also get better deal! Stay duration might be more flexible and special spring prices from flights to accommodation might make it easier to finally book that snow holiday.

And of course, less people also mean even more time to indulge in all what the all-inclusive package offers: from our food selection to a premium open bar, sports and activities, kids club, entertainment…

1.      Give unique memories

Holidays

Who wouldn’t want a holiday for Christmas?! Surprise your loved one with a weekend away or a relaxing week somewhere in the world – the perfect way to create unique memories. Looking for inspiration? Discover many destinations this way.

Events ticket

Music lover? Festivals or concert ✔
Food lover? Cooking lesson ✔
Art lover? Art gallery or exhibit tickets ✔

You get the idea. Keep an eye out for local events and make it your amazing Christmas gift.

Experiences

Always wanted to go whale watching or bungee jumping? There are so many experiences to try both locally and overseas, it makes the perfect gift for all budgets. And why not treat yourself to the same gift so you can also share the joy?

Memberships

Whether your loved ones are gym junkies or beauty box addicts, there are many options of memberships to choose from. Rather than one gift in December, they’ll love receiving this gift all year long.

2.      Give your time

This is not always the most common way of gifting but sometimes giving your own time can go a long way. Have a special skill you can help with like gardening or painting? Create your own voucher to give away some of your time!

Know friends that need a babysitter few times a year or a car to borrow? Organise it and surprise them with your kindness!

3.      Upcycle existing objects

Before you throw away old furniture or toys, think to yourself if it could have a second chance with a bit of a touch-up? You’d be surprised how easy it is to repaint small furnishing or repurpose objects for a brand new life.

Not sure where to start? Check these awesome upcycling ideas from a new lamp to a jewelry frame organizer. They will make amazing ethical Christmas gifts.

4.      Bake some yummy treats

Something as simple as food can make someone’s Christmas! And why not learn a skill too? Between cupcakes and savoury cakes, there are many yummy treats to please your loved ones.

Not really into cooking? Look in your local chocolate store, gifting delicious chocolate made with love can only go right.

5.      Buy ethical and local

Of course, we’re not all crafty with an ever-lasting supply of old furniture to upcycle lying around.

So for eco-friendly gifts, why not find a local artisan and buy something you know has been created with love and with a great story behind it.

Check your local artists selling paintings, sculptures, home decoration… Get information on any organic stores nearby or local wine producers.

So remember for this Christmas, it’s all about giving sustainably and ethically. Give unique memories, give your time, give something you made, give to the local community by buying something different.

Happy holidays!

4:30pm: Wherever you are staying, Santa never forgets to visit our resorts. He usually arrives with his sleigh...but we have already seen him arriving by jet-ski in Phuket or by elephant in Bintan.

7pm: Start your Christmas Eve evening by enjoying pre-dinner drinks and gourmet snacks, with Christmas elves...

8:30pm: ...then, discover a sumptuous buffet where turkey, oyster, pudding and Christmas log will be waiting for you.

10:30pm: After dinner, enjoy a unique Christmas show, put on by our professional staff with Christmas music, caroling and of course a unique entertainment program.

Christmas Day, all wrapped up in a bow

8am - 12:30am: Savour mouthwatering gourmet Christmas meals prepared by international chefs... with the peace-of-mind knowing we're doing it all - the planning, cooking and clean-up - so you can just sit back and enjoy spending time with your family.

5pm: Kids are sometimes nervous about holidaying away from home at Christmas. How will Santa know where they are? But we know how important Christmas is. During the day your children (under 12) will receive a Club Med gift, so they know Santa's thinking of them!

Celebrate New Year’s Eve in style

What better way is there to kick off the New Year than in one of the world's most beautiful spots? Yep, New Year's Eve in Club Med is certainly something to behold.

12:15pm: For more traditional end-of-year enthusiasts, we organize reading of prayers in different languages. After that, the party continues at the main bar.
